November brings a variety of library events for adults, teens, kids, and families

Spokane, WA | October 29, 2024Spokane County Library District announces the lineup of November events, including creative, helpful, and insightful programs for adults and fun-filled educational programs for kids, teens, and families.

During Penguin Exploration: Birds on Ice (grades K–5), kids learn how to draw a penguin, create amazing penguin crafts, and discover fun facts while finding penguins hidden in the library. Families can show their personalities and capture silly memories for the holiday season during Awkward Family Photos: Holiday Cringe Edition (all ages) in The STCU Studio at Spokane Valley Library.

Plus, nine SCLD libraries offer weekly storytimes for early learners, and kids and families can explore STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) activities that spark curiosity and imagination. Programs for teens offer opportunities to hang out, create, and work as part of a team. View more events for kids, teens, and families happening in November at scld.org/nov-kids-events.

Teens and adults can learn how to design something special and unique for the holidays in the class Glowforge: Holiday Ornaments. They can stop in for Maker Open Hours in The Lab (teens and adults) at North Spokane Library to work on creative projects for the holidays, ask questions, and receive instruction on various equipment. The Lab’s equipment includes a Glowforge 3D laser printer, digital media transfer equipment, and other available tools.

Give the gift of time and share the joy of reading. During Reading Buddy Volunteer Orientation (ages 16+) we share how Reading Buddy volunteers can make a difference in a young child’s life.

The presentation Supporting Those with Memory Loss During the Holidays (adults) offers education and tips on how you and your family can support a loved one with memory loss who might have a difficult time with the hustle and bustle of the upcoming holiday season.

Cold and flu season has arrived. The CHAS Mobile Clinic (all ages) returns to Spokane Valley Library in November to provide services, such as medication refills, wound care, treatment of acute injury and illness, and referrals for primary care/specialists.

Adults can also find other health and wellness programs, gardening classes, a small business workshop, and Medicare sessions at our libraries in November. Learn more about November events for adults and how to sign up at scld.org/nov-adults-events.
