Library programs offer art, music, reading, more


Spokane, WA | February 20, 2025 – Spokane County Library District (SCLD) announces the March library events and workshops for all ages, adults, teens, tweens, kids, and families. 
 
For All Ages
 
Explore the Community Art Show: Celebrate Your Community, March 7–31, to view art created by local artists of all ages, displayed in our libraries and online. 
 
Celebrate the luck of the Irish with live music performed by Floating Crowbar and/or Arvid Lundin & Deep Roots. 
 
For Adults
 
Stop by Argonne Library in March to see the Millwood History Exhibition and drop in for the Millwood History Enthusiasts discussion and the Millwood: Theft, Fire, and Celebration presentation.
 
The EWU Racial Restrictive Covenants Project Workshop helps homeowners whose deeds have a clause restricting all “non-Caucasians” from residing in their homes. This workshop gives homeowners the tools needed to fill out and file a Racial Covenant Amendment Form.
 
Make reading a delicious occasion by attending Chocolate Tasting & Book Pairing. Sign up to try different flavors from Halletts Chocolates and get suggestions for books that pair well with them.
 
Small businesses and entrepreneurs can learn how Create Inspiring Marketing Messages with AI-Generated Content.
 
The Reading Buddy Program pairs volunteers, as mentors, with elementary school students to read together one-on-one and foster a love of reading. Those interested in volunteering can sign up for the online Reading Buddy Volunteer Orientation.
 
Memory Café is debuting as a monthly event at Spokane Valley Library, starting in March, and continuing weekly at North Spokane Library.
 
The SCLD Online Authors Series offers three dynamic author talks in March with Dan Heath, Clara Bingham, and Jennifer Weiner.

For Teens & Tweens
 
Taylor Swift fans ages 10–14 can have the time of their lives at the Swifties Celebration: Friendship Bracelets. Tweens and teens ages 10–17 can explore their vocal creativity during Retro Reels: Voice-Over Challenge. At Junior Maker Drop-In Hours, for ages 8–16, participants can see what they can do with creative technology.

For Kids & Families
 
The Read Across America: A Beanstack Reading Challenge for kids in grades K–5 and their families is happening March 1–31. Learn more about the reading challenge, including how to sign up and get started.
 
During Thinking Money for Kids (grades K–5), students can become financial wizards by trying out different activities and learning about new things, such as earning, saving, spending, sharing, and budgeting—all while having fun!
 
Make a Tabletop Miniature Golf Hole (grades K–5) with supplies provided by the library. Then, try to get a hole in one!
 
Young children and their caregivers can enjoy stories and activities to build early literacy skills, all while having fun, at our weekly Play & Learn Storytime programs at nine SCLD libraries. Watch Picture Book Chat to see some of the best new books to read with early learners.

Spokane County Library District provides resources, experiences, and places that empower people to learn, explore, and succeed.
