Level Up at Your Library: Summer Reading programs and online challenge for every age

Spokane, WA | June 5, 2025 – Spokane County Library District (SCLD) announces this year’s Summer Reading theme Level Up at Your Library, based on puzzles, games, and improving skills. Kids and families, tweens and teens, and adults are all encouraged to check out games, crafts, author talks, and events at SCLD libraries.

Online Summer Reading Challenge

SCLD’s Online Summer Reading Challenge with Beanstack is for readers of every age. Participants can track their reading for prize drawings and giveaways, while supplies last. All types of reading, including audiobook listening, eBooks, and magazines, count toward the challenge.

Kids and teens (ages 0–17) who register for summer reading with Beanstack can visit their library to choose a free new book, while supplies last. Registered youth (ages 5–17) who read at least 300 minutes can earn a free ticket to a Spokane Velocity FC or Spokane Zephyr FC soccer match, while supplies last. Everyone who reads for at least 600 minutes, completing the challenge, is entered into the prize drawing for their age group.

K–12 Summer Series Author Talks

The K–12 Summer Series Author Talks for kids, teens, and families includes four amazing authors and illustrators with live, online author talks. Everyone can watch and hear from wonderful authors, draw with amazing illustrators, and get tips for writing their own stories.
