December at the library: holiday activities, STEM, storytime, author talks, and more
Spokane, WA | November 16, 2023 – Spokane County Library District announces an eclectic mix of events and activities at its libraries and online this December.
Customers of all ages are invited to drop by during the Handmade Holiday Ornaments program to use library supplies to make something festive. Families can sign up for the Spanish-language program Decoración de piñatas / Piñata Decorating in Spanish and the Awkward Family Photos: Holiday Cringe Edition for some holiday bonding time.
Teens can show off their creativity during two crafting programs: Teen DIY Holiday Gifts and 3D Printing: Holiday Ornaments, which is also for adults.
Get into the spirit of the holidays during Sing Along with Just Plain Darin: Classic Holiday Hits. Adults can learn how to share memories digitally during Audio Visual Club: Gifting Home Movies & Still Photos. Explore these holiday crafts and activities at www.scld.org/holiday-events.
Now is the perfect time to sign up for Online Pajama Storytime, drop into the library for LEGO Free Play, and sign up or drop in for Coding a Sphero indi Racer or a Sphero BOLT robot. Learn more about these programs and others for kids at www.scld.org/dec-kids-events.
The SCLD Online Authors Series brings authors straight to you, and December has two author talks that are sure to be fantastic. Talk about world building in YA fantasy fiction with bestselling author Victoria Aveyard, and hear about the latest nonfiction about motherhood, hunger, and higher education by bestselling author Stephanie Land. The following are a few of the programs for adults. You can bring what might be fixed or mended to Fix It Together, including small appliances and clothes that need mending. Our Tuesday Memory Café is for those with memory loss and their caregivers, offering support and activities. During the Homebuyer Education Seminar, learn the ins and outs in an unbiased presentation from SNAP Spokane before you purchase your first home.
