Create, share art at the Community Art Show plus explore creative workshops
Spokane, WA | January 21, 2025 – Spokane County Library District (SCLD) announces the return of the annual Community Art Show, an event that brings together the creativity of all ages in the community.
The theme for 2025 is Celebrate Your Community. Participants of all ages can explore what they love most about their community and what makes their community unique and special. Miniature art canvases are supplied by our libraries and are available for pick up, starting February 1 and while supplies last.
Art must be turned in by February 28 at any SCLD library to be included in the Community Art Show, which runs from March 7 through March 31. Learn more at scld.org/art-show.
Our libraries have workshops and classes in February to spark ideas and inspire. Adults and teens ages 16+ can explore their creativity when they sign up for 3D Printing: Token Boxes and Art Journaling for Beginners or when they drop in during Maker Open Hours in The Lab.
Junior Maker Hours in The Lab is a new offering for tweens and teens ages 8–16. They can use our Glowforge to create a laser-engraved wood project or try out a paper design with the Cricut cutting machine. Attendees can even build a project that we’ve set out to get creative ideas flowing.
Tweens ages 8–12 can sign up for LEGO Stop-Motion Animation to create and edit video of their LEGO characters moving, jumping, and talking to each other.
Arte: Pintura en Azulejos / Art in Spanish: Tile Painting is for kids ages 6–10 and their families and specifically for those who understand spoken Spanish and are willing to try speaking some during this creative program.
