Horizon 2040 Long Range Transportation Plan Public Open House
The Spokane Regional Transportation Council (SRTC) has completed a draft update to our long-range transportation plan, Horizon 2040. By planning ahead, we can help prevent our roadways from experiencing the kind of congestion those in Western Washington have.
Horizon 2040 includes analysis of local transportation needs, strategies to address these needs, a list of projects and programs to be constructed or implemented in the next 22 years and a financial plan to show that funding is reasonably available to carry out all these activities over the life of the plan.
SRTC will host a public open house for those who are interested in more information. It will include:
- Projections for population, employment, demand on the area transportation system, etc. between 2018 and 2040
- Strategies to address that demand and issues it will create such as needed repair to the system, additional transit services, more sidewalks and bike lanes
- A list of projects and programs to be implemented in Horizon 2040’s timeframe
- A financial plan to show where funding will come from to pay for those projects and programs
- What performance measures will be used to determine if Horizon 2040’s goals are being accomplished
