Employment Law for Supervisors
Supervisors act as a critical link between the employer and its employees and speak on behalf of the employer as its "agent.” Untrained supervisors can create liability or an obligation to act on behalf of the employer, intentionally or not. Given this unique role, it is critical that supervisors receive training regarding an overview of employment law issues, allowing them to spot issues before they become problems, therefore minimizing legal liability and adding to operational efficiency.
In this half-day class, you will learn:
- how to spot potential problems and legal issues
- when to resolve issues at the supervisor level and when to refer the problem to HR/upper management
- an overview of the basic legal concepts, including employee performance and discipline, managing employee leave, unlawful harassment and discrimination as well as terminating the employment relationship.
