Oftentimes the classrooms are 4 walls that we sit within to memorize equations, stats and history. Don’t get me wrong, those all have their place. But when do the teachers teach you how to live on your own? How do you create a resume? How do you save for your future or get stains out of your favorite shirt? How often should you change the air vents? When getting an apartment, what monthly costs are you responsible for besides the rent? You mean internet, electric, gas are all separate? How do you make healthy dinners for 1 without resorting to microwaving pizzas?

Shane Veitenheimer: I grew up in Kennewick, Washington and moved to the Spokane Area in 2006 to attend Eastern Washington University. I completed my Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and also met my wife, Kimberly. We have now added 3 young children into the mix and we are as active as ever. Most of our time and energy goes to our kids, but when I am able to get away for a few hours I like to spend that time being physically active in some way. Oddly enough I love going to the gym and getting a workout in which is great considering my other passion is baked goods.
I started my career in Human Resources after graduating from college which turned out to be a great learning experience for me. While overseeing the operation of our company's 401k plan, I gained valuable insight into the world of investing and personal financial planning. During the 401k enrollment meetings with our employees, I could see that there was a significant need for financial education which motivated me to transition into the finance world in 2011. I have acquired 4 investment securities licenses as well as 2 separate insurance licenses.
Although I have been in the Financial industry now for almost 15 years, I recently transitioned my practice to Equilus Capital Partners. Equilus offers specific portfolio assets that are exclusive to our firm. I recognized that these investment options could be very valuable financial tools for my clients and so I transitioned to ensure they were available in our planning.
