Nora Disis, M.D., Fel. ?93 is an expert in ?translational research? ? applying scientific breakthroughs to classroom and clinical practice. She specializes in breast and ovarian cancer immunology and immunotherapy, with the aim of developing vaccines to boost cancer immunity and prevent cancer recurrence.

She holds several patents in the fields of targeted cancer therapy and cancer diagnostics and has established research consortiums comprising universities and laboratories across the country to help standardize research monitoring and reporting.

Disis is the co-investigator responsible for immune monitoring at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. She is also the associate dean for translational health sciences in the UW School of Medicine, professor of medicine and adjunct professor of pathology and obstetrics and gynecology at the UW and a member of the FHCRC. She is the director of both the UW Institute of Translational Health Science and the Center for Translational Medicine in Women?s Health.
